The cemetery preservation Board will host a dedication on sunday, June 28th at 2 p.m. at the shannon cemetery.  The location is on Taylorsville Road in shelbyville near Walmart behind the  Salsaritos restuarant- formerly the KFC restuarant.

SATURDAY, MARCH 28, 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in the Shelby County Public Library's Hudson Room.  Join us as we explore the "Sears Catalogue Homes" or  "Sear's Kit Homes".  Board member Sarabeth Farabee and Historic District Commission Fred Rogers explore these uniques homes that exist in our community today.

I want to THANK everyone who participated in the Shelby County Historical Society's Community Tapestry 2015. The event was a huge success. We had well over 150 people in attendance. And we could not have done this without your support and participation. There will be a wrap-up meeting in a couple of weeks. Please send me your thoughts and suggestions.

Do you remember those days you spent at Shelbyville High School?  Come take a stroll through our newest exhibit, Remembering Shelbyville High School.  We have a room full of panels full of pictures and items that will take you back to those days of high school fun.  Duanne Puckett text narrates the panels that make up this exhibit.  James Mulcahy showcases Shelbyville High School through picture panels full of color and memories of those youthful days.

Open House-

The Shelby County Historical Society will host an Open House on Saturday, July 19 from 9-12 at the history center on Main Street to celebrate the Lessons From Rosenwald Schools: National Treasures exhibit.  The exhibit showcases the former Buck Creek Rosenwald School in Shelby County.  The exhibit was compiled by Julia Bache as a Girl Scout project.  We invite you to attend this free event and meet former Rosenwald students and hear their stories.  The exhibit will run through August 31st. Lite refreshments will be served.

The Shelby County Historical Society is hosting this event.  Join us, on Saturday, February 8, (1pm-5pm) at the Settle Gym for a day filled with local Black History.  Our committee has worked hard researching and compiling information on Black communites, soldiers, churches, schools, teachers, and lots more.
